This is something that is so important to agility dog's yet can be so easily missed out in regular training. Good balance and co-ordination will result in a better jumping technique, less poles knocked, more speed, tighter turns, faster weaving and less mistakes when weaving.
While working on exercises to improve these you can also work on your dog's ability to problem solve, this is also very important in agility and also everyday life. Dog's need to know that they can be in control of whether they get a reward or not by offering different behaviours and figuring out which ones get them a reward.
I am running a series of workshops to work on this through October and November, for more information have a look at the classes and workshops page.
My goal for this weekend was to get a win with Flake, she need's to get 4 G6 wins to go G7 and she already has 1 but it looks like she now has 'secounditis'.
She did 4 lovely runs but in 2 she got marked on the dogwalk ( once on the up plank and once on the down) and in the other 2 she came 2nd. In her last class she was actually beaten by Holly!!! My crazy little rescue girl who is finally starting to feel good in G6 so they now have 1 win each.
I also ran Zazu, he did some really good things but our bugbear at the moment is the weaves, I just havn't done enough of them and he's getting really stress about it. My plan of action is to do 5 mins of weaving every day with him this week and see how it goes next weekend.
People that train with me also had an amazing weekend, Jan and Kev both won into G5 and Dawn won into G3. Team Bandit are looking very comfortable in G3 and Irana and Coco are really close to a win. Rosemary and Alicia also got some top places.
I also drove to Cornwall twice with De this weekend to mate her to brook so hopefully we will have pup's mid November :)
Here's some videos of my lot.
