It has been such a busy week, Zazu has been unwell and had to spend a few nights in the vet's which has been very stressfull. He is now home and looking really well :)
On Monday I held a christmas show/party for people that I train, it was for those that are competing or are close to it to meet each other and have some fun whilst running their dog's in a more exciting environment.
28 dog's did 4 rounds each over the evening,( that's about half of the dog's I train each week).
It was a great evening and evryone had lot's of fun, we ran out of milk quite early on so Bev was giving out cofee with baily's instead :)
On Wednesday I went to Olympia as my dad's groom, he was competing Jet in the ABC, he did really well and came 4th in the jumping and 7th in the agility. It was a really good day and evryone was helpfull and suportive and all of the competitors got on well. I am going to really focus on qualifying for the Olympia semi's with Ty, Emmy and Flake this year, im not sure about Holly. I think it would be her idea of hell and even if she did qualify im not sure it would be fair to take her.
Im really excited about next season, I bought a new van last week and im going to get cages for it on Monday then I just need to get a tow bar and it's ready. There's allot to do to get the dog's fit, the arena has been flooded or frozen allot of the time so I havn't been able to do much jump work with them. Were just doing lot's of walking to make up for it.
Here's a pic from the Christmas party. I was so pleased how evryone did, it was some dog's first time training away from home and they did really well
Happy Christmas xx
We've had her 5 day's now and already she get's excited when I take her in the arena. She's had a bath and now has a nice fleece coat on to keep her clean and warm. She's quite pushy with the other dog's and get's right in there faces and she does seem to be a bit 'chasey' but not too bad (certainly not as bad as Holly was) but she's not nasty in any way. I'll try and take her for a walk on her own next week to see what she's like on lead and when she meet's other dogs. Here's a video showing what ive been doing with her.
This is a pic of one of my walks with the dogs, I got a bit lost and ended up walking along a very narrow edge with a steep slope going down. A year ago I probably would have left them off lead to sort them selves out but after Ty injuring himself on a walk this year going down a steep hill after a rabbit I wasn't going to take any risks, I kept all 5 on lead which made it pretty difficult but I felt that they were safer.
Im getting a bit bored of the winter routine, going to show's just breaks the week up. I've just started some grid work with the dogs so that by January they should be really fit and ready to start some proper training.
We got a call yesterday from the lady that led us to getting Holly. A farmer that my dad had met before had asked her to put us in touch with him.
So dad called him, he had an 18 month old bitch that he had rescued because she had been chained to a fence her whole life.
He has been working with her since October but had never planned to keep her and asked for our help in finding her a home. We collected her this morning and she is lovely, she has met Ty, De and Tricky and has spent some time in the arena having a wander and testing her recal. She is a short coat tri black and white with lovely conformation and so far a ovely temprement. What has really surprised me is that she plays tug and retrieves a toy.
So if you are interested in her..........................
Nah! not gonna happen she's mine! :)
