On Wednesday I ran two 1.5 hour groups at Hand, the first was either experienced handlers with inexperienced dogs or inexperienced handlers and dogs. It was a nice mix as I normally give the more experienced handlers their own group as they know alot already I don't have to go over the same things as with new people. So it was good for the new handlers to see what they are aiming for.
For most of the new handlers their worry was embarrassment, that people would think badly of them and annoyed that they were taking up time if they got something wrong.
The 2nd group was more experienced handlers and dogs. For these handlers their worry was stepping out of their comfort zone and trying different things, I wasn't asking them to do Ketchners or fancy blinds, I just wanted them to run off earlier and stop watching their dogs so they could get in place to do better front crosses.
So what I would like you to do is comment below on your most embarrassing moment with your dog or a situation where you've chickened out and taken the safer option. It would be great for new people to see that they are not alone and also show how many of us play it safe and miss out on that win.
Please join in I would be very grateful :)
