Holly, I did a bit with her on Monday and she slipped going after a ball and went down quite heavily on her back right leg, she seemed fine at the time but after sleeping for a couple of hours she got up on 3 leg's. She walked it off pretty quickley but i've rested her since, I will do a little bit with her on Sunday to check that she is ok to compete on Mon. Most of her training has reached a point where I am happy with it so im just tweaking little thing like getting her looking ahead better on contatcs and crossing behind tunnels which she hates. Wait's however are taking a bit more effort, now she's going into G6 I really need a wait so ive been working loads on this. She's starting to get it at home so I feel that I can start re-inforcing the wait in competitions, the next 2 she will be in G5 and there are no qualifiers that I want to try for so I will insist on a wait and take her out if she doesn't do it.
Emmy is finally getting her contacts, for so long I have worked towards getting fast contacts with her and she just hasn't got it. So at Lincoln I made her slow down on the dogwalk and think about what she was doing and it seemed to help, over the weekend I slowed her down less and she still got the contact. Her A-frames wern't so good which is a bit frustrating as they are very good at home so I've got Sara to train her in a couple of my lessons this week so that she is doing her contacts in a more exciting environment. Everything else is pretty good, im working on getting her more confident and independant in the weaves using the manners minder which she thinks is great fun.
Ty is pretty much fully trained, the one thing I had a lot of trouble with las year was his A-frame, he would step over the contact with his front feet then put his back feet on which was fine when we were doing a training round but when I was pushing for a faster time I would release him too soon and he would get 5f.
I've been repeating the A-frame if he doesn't hit the contact with his front feet and rewarding him with food to put more value in the contact position than in the release and this seems to be working so far. Evrything else is down to me, if I make the right decisions and hanle mi properly we do ok.
